Supreme Court strikes down aggregate contribution limit, further eroding restricts on money in politics
“While only applying to federal races now, it is a matter of time before the Rhode Island aggregate contribution limit of $10,000 to candidates, party committees and PACs is challenged,” Marion continues. “Rhode Island is one of nine states that limits the total amount that can be contributed in a year, and we expect that limit to be challenged and fall under this decision.” Marion cites a study by the National Institute on Money in State Politics that details the aggregate limits in Rhode Island.
