The conduct of President Trump outlined in the opening statement James Comey will deliver tomorrow is an absolutely unacceptable abuse of power and reeks of obstruction of justice, which are impeachable offenses. If obstruction of justice is not already a major focus of the ongoing investigations, it must become one now. The statement of the former FBI director makes very clear that the President of the United States overtly attempted to interfere in the investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential race and possible collusion by members of the Trump campaign. It is my sincere hope that this development will prompt Members of Congress to put their country before their political party and conduct a full and fair investigation of the Russian attack on the 2016 presidential election, the possible collusion by staffers, and multiple attempts by the President of the United States to derail the investigation.
