Geoff Foster Joins Common Cause Massachusetts as Executive Director

Common Cause Massachusetts has chosen Geoff Foster as its new Executive Director.

Foster, a resident of Lowell, brings more than a decade of policy and advocacy experience with UTEC, Inc., where he established statewide programs for youth civic engagement and voter activation. In 2019, UTEC and Foster were honored with the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network’s “Excellence In Advocacy Award.”

“I’m thrilled to welcome Geoff to the team at Common Cause Massachusetts. Geoff brings a wealth of enthusiasm, experience, and relationships and I know he will do great things in this role,” said Pam Wilmot, Vice President of State Operations for Common Cause. “I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

“Common Cause Massachusetts has a spectacular record of improving democracy in the Bay State, and I am thrilled to bring my organizing experience to an already amazing team,” Foster said. “The need for election reform and the expansion of voting rights has never felt so urgent and I am ready to get to work on Common Cause Massachusetts’ priority issues including making mail-in voting permanent and Same Day Voter Registration.”

“Geoff brings a wealth of experience in youth engagement, policy advocacy and coalition work,” said Common Cause President Karen Hobert Flynn. “We are delighted to have him join the team.”

Foster replaces Wilmot, who was Common Cause Massachusetts Executive Director for more than 22 years. Wilmot was promoted to Vice President of State Operations for Common Cause earlier this year. She now oversees a nationwide network of 30 state offices and advisory boards, including Common Cause Massachusetts. Wilmot will serve as Foster’s supervisor.
