2026 Internship Opportunities
Common Cause Maryland is hiring a Legislative Intern for Spring 2026 (January 16 – May 15, 2026). Interns will receive compensation of $17.50 per hour. This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Annapolis, MD and will be 20-25 hours per week. You will report to the Executive Director, Maryland. Apply today!
The Legislative Intern will work with our team on campaigns relating to voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform. In this role you will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, research, policy development, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in
- Assisting with the planning and execution of Lobby Night and other advocacy events
- Preparing testimony, taking notes at caucus meetings, and tracking legislative hearings
- Supporting legislative outreach and volunteer communications
- Engaging in coalition advocacy and communications work
- Building knowledge of the Maryland legislative process and key policy issues
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, organizing, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
