Anti-Voter Bill HB1264 will cost taxpayers, hurts new voters

The following is a statement from Common Cause Indiana Executive Director Julia Vaughn on the passage of HB1264 today:

“Indiana’s civic health is on life support and HB1264 only makes the illness worse,” said Julia Vaughn, Executive Director of Common Cause Indiana. “This bill uses bad data sources that will exclude new voters which is why 17 local voting rights groups oppose the legislation. It is almost certain this bill will end up in expensive litigation that costs taxpayers’ money, because similar efforts have failed in other states as well. We need solutions to increase voter participation, and HB1264 does the opposite.”
