Democracy Coalition Thanks Legislators for Putting Hoosiers First
Today, members of the All IN for Democracy coalition sent a letter thanking the nine Indiana legislators who are standing up for Hoosiers and rejecting mid-decade redistricting.

The Trump Administration is actively pressuring Indiana legislators to redistrict congressional maps mid-cycle. Out-of-state PACs and national political figures are pressuring lawmakers into supporting gerrymandering Indiana’s districts because Indiana elected officials have refused to bend to those partisan demands.
The coalition sent a letter to the following Republican legislators who have publicly spoken in opposition to a special session for redistricting: Senators Spencer Deery, Greg Walker and Jim Tomes and Representatives Becky Cash, Ed Clere, Ryan Lauer, Jim Lucas, Danny Lopez and J.D. Prescott.
Common Cause Indiana and the League of Women Voters of Indiana founded the All IN for Democracy coalition in 2015 to advocate for a citizens redistricting commission. The coalition, which now includes 25 diverse organizations, increased public participation in the redistricting process in 2021 through a model citizens commission and a public mapping competition in which thousands of Hoosiers participated.
“We call on all Hoosier legislators to resist the efforts of out-of-state political groups who want to treat Indiana voters like we’re red or blue pawns in a chess game to gerrymander themselves to victory in the mid-term elections,” said Julia Vaughn, Executive Director of Common Cause Indiana.
