MISSING: Ethics in California

California’s voters have been hit with a series of headlines over the last month that will force many voters to ask: where have all the ethical public officials gone?

Here are a few examples: current state senator under federal corruption investigations; a former senator guilty of using campaign funds as slush funds, and; a horde of legislators off to the sunny beaches of Maui for an all-expenses paid trip to schmooze with powerful lobbyists.

These are enough bad headlines to make voters throw their hands in the air and just give up on public officials. But not get too dramatic yet.

These headlines are unfortunate and voters deserve to have public officials stand up for what is right, not sink down into the muck of political corruption.

So here are my suggestions on how voters can reengage, make a change, and help hold power accountable:
