Common Cause Massachusetts calls for disclosure law for Super PACs
Boston.com reported on our statement urging the Massachusetts legislature to pass more effective disclosure for outside spending in time for the 2014 elections.
An advocacy group concerned with the flood of outside money in politics is warning that the creation last week of a super PAC aimed at the Massachusetts gubernatorial race presages a torrent of shadowy spending heading toward November.
“I think we’re seeing just the tip of the iceberg. There are going to be more and more committees forming and the amount of outside money that’s going to be spent in the 2014 Massachusetts elections is going to dwarf what we’ve seen in the past,” said Pam Wilmot, the executive director of Common Cause Massachusetts.
