Über 50 Gruppen, angeführt von Common Cause NC, haben am Montag einen Brief an die Gesetzgeber geschickt, in dem sie ihre Bedenken hinsichtlich der Haushaltsvorgabe zum Ausdruck brachten und einen „offenen und transparenten“ Neugliederungsprozess forderten. „Wir fordern Sie auf, das Versprechen der Demokratie wahr zu machen, indem Sie einen Neugliederungsprozess anführen, der Wahlpläne erstellt, die die tatsächliche Demografie, die Werte, Interessen und Bedürfnisse der Einwohner von North Carolina widerspiegeln“, heißt es in dem Brief.

In einer Rede im National Press Club sagte Vorsitzende Rosenworcel, sie werde bei der öffentlichen Sitzung der Behörde am 19. CFTC lehnt Versuch ab, Glücksspiel bei US-Wahlen zu legalisieren
Heute hat die Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) einen Antrag abgelehnt, Glücksspiele auf den Ausgang von US-Wahlen zu legalisieren. Im Juli reichte Common Cause eine Stellungnahme ein, die von mehr als 15.000 seiner Mitglieder mitunterzeichnet wurde. Darin forderte die CFTC nachdrücklich auf, den Antrag abzulehnen, mit der Begründung, dass der von KalshiEX, LLC („Kalshi“) vorgeschlagene Vertrag zur Kontrolle von Kongressveranstaltungen „neue und tiefgreifende Bedrohungen für die Integrität unserer Demokratie und unserer Wahlen“ darstelle.

There is no viable alternative to ERIC. Other states have tried, but to no avail; for example, the Interstate Crosscheck System, a program started in Kansas, had a 99% error rate. It was found to eliminate about 200 registrations used to cast legitimate votes for every one duplicate voter registration. As explained by the Louisiana Illuminator, “Replicating what ERIC built would be a major technical, scientific, administrative and political challenge, even for a state committed to making it work.”
