Democracy Download ist eine zweiwöchentliche Zusammenfassung demokratiebezogener Veranstaltungen aus dem gesamten ideologischen Spektrum. Die Veranstaltungen finden in Washington, D.C. statt, viele davon können aber auch auf C-Span oder per Live-Stream auf Facebook Live oder anderen Online-Plattformen verfolgt werden. Democracy Download, an every-other-weekly round-up of events, hearings, and other important dates of note pertaining to our democracy. The events cover a range of perspectives from across the ideological spectrum and are all based in Washington, D.C., but some of them can be seen on C-Span, or live-streamed in Facebook Live, or another online source.  Check links for details.

  • July 25: U.S. v. Manafort trial is scheduled to begin in the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
  • July 25, 2pm: Congressional Transparency Caucus holds a briefing entitled, “Shining a Light on Foreign Lobbying” with Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) and others, 2456 Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC. RSVP Hier.
  • July 25, 2:30pm: Senate Foreign Relations Committee holds a hearing entitled, “An Update on American Diplomacy to Advance our National Security Strategy” with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, 419 Dirksen Senate Office Building, Washington, DC. Livestreamed Hier.
  • July 26: Deadline for congressional offices to cosponsor bills to be included in Common Cause’s 2018 Democracy Scorecard
  • August 2, 10am: Federal Election Commission holds an open meeting, 1050 1st St. NE, Washington, DC. Agenda TBA.
  • August 6: 53rd anniversary of the Voting Rights Act being signed into law
