California Common Cause led the fight to end the closed door process that allowed the California State Legislature to draw their own district lines, sacrificing communities in favor of incumbent protection.

Thanks to support from our members and coalition partners, we helped pass Prop 11 and Prop 20, which created an independent citizens redistricting commission that draws state legislative and congressional districts in a fair and independent manner. Our plan for California has become a model for national redistricting reform.
