Wisconsin Election Protection

For this year's all-important elections, we are working with Election Protection Coalition partners to safeguard elections in Wisconsin and help voters cast their ballot without confusion, obstruction, or intimidation.

Protect the Vote in 2024

Our democracy works best when every voter can participate and when every ballot is counted as cast. That is why we are recruiting nonpartisan volunteers across the state this year to help voters cast their ballot freely and fairly.

We know that far too many voters in Wisconsin, especially voters of color, face barriers to the ballot box—like photo ID requirements, long lines, underfunding so there is not enough voting machines or staff, confusing laws, or disinformation.

That is why this year, Common Cause Wisconsin, together with our voting rights partners to be our strongest, is part of the largest nonpartisan Election Protection effort yet! Voters deserve to be informed and prepared to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

What We’re Doing

As part of Common Cause Wisconsin’s work to protect the vote in 2024, we will:

  • Recruit nonpartisan volunteers so they can go to polling places around the state, where they will answer voters’ questions and serve as a first line of defense against voter suppression tactics
  • Monitor social media platforms for misleading and false content designed to confuse voters
  • Promote the 866-OUR-VOTE hotline, which voters can call to address any questions or issues
  • Bring any major problems to the attention of elections officials and, if necessary, take legal action in defense of voters’ rights

You too can play a role in protecting elections in Wisconsin. Become an Election Protection Volunteer. Find more information and sign up today.

Take The Pledge: I will vote in 2024

Our votes are our voices, and democracy works best when we all participate. I pledge to vote this November, and I’ll encourage every eligible citizen I know to do the same.

Witnessing the Election Process

This week the Wisconsin Elections Commission held a public hearing for comments about their draft administrative rule on election observation. Common Cause Wisconsin submitted this statement in support of a rule that will provide clarity and uniformity for election observers to witness the election process while allowing election officials to complete their duties transparently and unobstructed and voters to cast their ballots privately and with confidence.
