As in 2020, it will take days for many states to count every vote accurately. <\/span><b>That\u2019s why a delay in the results is a sign of a healthy democracy!\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Election workers need time to count every single vote\u2014including in-person, mail, absentee, overseas, and military ballots. So once we as voters do our jobs, <\/span><b>it\u2019s time to let election workers do theirs.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s your guide to when we anticipate the most contested state results will come in\u2014<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/protectdemocracy.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Vote-Count-Expectations-2024.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you can read the full breakdown here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Arizona:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2-4 days after Election Day\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Gruzia:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Election Night\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Michigan: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at most, 2-3 days after Election Day\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nevada:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> up to 4 days after Election Day\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>B\u1eafc Carolina:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Election Night, or early morning the next day\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Ohio:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Election Night\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pennsylvania:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Friday, November 8\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Wisconsin:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Wednesday, November 6\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t fall for it when politicians rush to claim victory early or the media demands instant results\u2014the truth is, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ch\u00ednh th\u1ee9c<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">winner can\u2019t be declared until vote counts are certified in the coming weeks. That\u2019s because election results go through a rigorous system of checks and balances to confirm their accuracy.\u00a0 <\/span>\r\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"none\">3. Every Vote Must, And Will, Count<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:160,&quot;335559739&quot;:80}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elections are all about the will of the people\u2014which is why Common Cause is working tirelessly to ensure every eligible American can cast their ballot and have it counted.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, far too many \u201cleaders\u201d are spinning lies about our elections, intending to sow mistrust in our voting systems and cast doubt on our hardworking election officials.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>That strategy didn\u2019t work in 2020. It won\u2019t work in 2024 either. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once those votes are cast and counted, remember that certifying election results isn\u2019t optional\u2014it is a legal requirement in all 50 states.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of our election officials are committed to getting the results right and respecting the will of the voters\u2014and anyone who refuses to certify the vote is refusing to honor the will of the people and their legal obligation. <\/span>\r\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"none\">4. Our Volunteers Are Ready To Help<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:160,&quot;335559739&quot;:80}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Common Cause and our partners have spent the past few months recruiting, training, and placing thousands of nonpartisan Election Protection poll monitors at polling sites across the country. They\u2019re there to help you and voters like you with any questions you might have about the voting process.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re asked to use a provisional ballot, remember that it is far better to try to fix the issue if possible. And ALWAYS call <\/span><b>866-B\u00ccNH-C\u1ea6U-C\u1ee6A-CH\u00daNG-T\u00d4I<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before voting provisionally\u2014just to double-check whether a provisional ballot is your only option.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if you see a volunteer at the polls\u2014you can tell by their Election Protection shirts\u2014say hi, and thank them for helping every voter be heard! Democracy Is On The Ballot<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134245418&quot;:true,&quot;134245529&quot;:true,&quot;335559738&quot;:160,&quot;335559739&quot;:80}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voters in these states will also get to cast their votes directly for a stronger democracy, by weighing in on these ballot measures:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Common Cause is supporting a ballot measure in <\/span><b>Los Angeles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that would establish an independent redistricting commission\u2014the best, proven way to STOP partisan and racial gerrymandering.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Connecticut<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> voters will have the chance to establish no-excuse absentee voting\u2014a proven reform that 28 states already use. This will give every eligible Connecticut resident the freedom to choose how they vote\u2014either in person or by mail, whatever works best for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b data-olk-copy-source=\"MailCompose\">New York City residents<\/b> will vote on Propositions 2 through 6, which would give the mayor even more unchecked power and reduce the city\u2019s ability to address everyday issues. We\u2019re urging a NO vote to keep decision-making transparent and protect New York\u2019s democratic process. Statewide, Common Cause New York supports a YES vote on Proposition 1.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Ohioans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will vote on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/vi\/ohio\/tai-nguyen-2\/citizens-not-politicians-amendment-faqs\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Citizens Not Politicians Amendment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which would empower citizens to draw fair districts using an open and transparent process.\u202fPassing this amendment will <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cu\u1ed1i c\u00f9ng<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> deliver fair maps for the state\u2014one of the most gerrymandered in the country.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Florida<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is facing a legislature-driven attempt to gut the state\u2019s public financing program\u2014and if it succeeds, wealthy donors will have even more of a say over state politics. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/vi\/florida\/tai-nguyen-2\/vote-no-on-amendment-6\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re encouraging a NO vote on Amendment 6<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because voters should decide our elections\u2014not big money donors.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plus, over 221 candidates on the ballot this year have already gone on the record about what they\u2019ll do for our democracy\u2014you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/democracysurvey.cc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">see what the people running to represent you have said at democracysurvey.cc &gt;&gt;<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/>"}},{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_add_component","_acfe_flexible_toggle":"","component_add_component":null},{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_work","_acfe_flexible_toggle":"","component_work":{"heading":"Work","manually_curate":false,"work":null}},{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_related_articles","_acfe_flexible_toggle":"","component_related_articles":{"heading":"Updates","button_text":"See all Related Articles","manually_curate":false,"articles":null}}]},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.6 (Yoast SEO v27.1.1) -
