Reject Trump’s mass surveillance proposal
With the World Cup and Olympics approaching, the United States should be welcoming visitors, not treating them as suspects.
We urge you to drop the proposed rule that would force tourists to hand over DNA, facial scans, fingerprints, and years of social media history just to enter the United States. We’ve already seen how this kind of data is misused through unaccountable surveillance systems.
Please drop this rule before it becomes permanent and does lasting damage to our democracy, privacy, and tourism economy.
Imagine you’re planning a trip abroad – but the new rulers of the country you’re thinking about visiting have just imposed new rules: you must submit your DNA, hand over personal information, and even let them search your social media for anything they don’t like.
You’d probably cross that country off your travel list – but that’s exactly what Trump is trying to do right here in the United States.
He wants to require tourists, even from close U.S. allies like the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan, to hand over DNA, facial scans, fingerprints, five years of social media history, and more just to enter the country. [1]
We’ve already seen how the Trump administration misuses this kind of data. Right now, they’re feeding our personal information into massive, unaccountable systems for facial recognition, DNA collection, and location tracking – then using it for God only knows what. [2]
And the timing couldn’t be worse. With the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics approaching, the United States should be welcoming the world – not warning people to stay away.
Sign the Petition: Tell the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to drop Trump’s dictator-like attempts to violate privacy and kill our tourism industry >>
