But with Trump\u2019s big, ugly bill, and DOGE, we\u2019re seeing real time pain. <\/span>\r\n<\/span>\r\n<\/span>Here are four ways Trump\u2019s actions are hurting Americans right now.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\ud83c\udf3d <\/span>Nebraska hospital announces closure.<\/b>\r\n\r\nA medical center in rural southwest Nebraska sent a press release minutes after Trump\u2019s ugly bill passed announcing they would be closing ASAP over cuts to Medicaid. The nearest 24 hour medical center would be an hour away from the current facility. <\/span>Learn more<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\ud83d\udd2c<\/span>Trump says girls can\u2019t learn STEM <\/b>\r\n<\/b>Trump eliminated millions in science grants because they use certain phrases he doesn\u2019t like. One of the grants they cut? Making sure girls have direct exposure to STEM topics. <\/span>Learn more<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\ud83d\udcb5<\/span>Trump says you\u2019re just a number<\/b>\r\n<\/span>Again, because Trump treated federal employees as numbers to cut, not public servants, the union for Social Security Administration says there is now a ratio of 1 employee to nearly 1,500 Americans on Social Security issues. <\/span>Learn more<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\r\n\r\n\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 Served your country? Trump doesn\u2019t care<\/b>.<\/span>\r\n<\/span>Lastly, Trump took the same axe to veterans benefits as he did to education funding. The case could potentially blow the cap off of the remaining campaign finance spending limits, which would give the ultra-wealthy even more power to meddle in our politics than they already have.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nWe can\u2019t let this happen. Since the 1970s, Common Cause has been instrumental in curbing Big Money\u2019s influence. From passing the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, which created the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) and became the foundation of modern campaign finance law, to today \u2014 we will fight to ensure this potential precedent won\u2019t poison our politics even further.
