Thanksgiving -- it's a time to give thanks, visit loved ones, decompress… and inevitably... talk politics around the dinner table.<\/p>

Folks will probably have some strong opinions -- but everyone can probably agree: politicians care more about catering to donors than listening to voters.<\/p>

In the face of so much organized money and political power, it’s understandable why Cousin Jeremy or Aunt Sally might feel that way. Maybe they just didn’t get enough mashed potatoes -- ngunit ang kanilang pagkatalo ay hindi tumutugma sa mga katotohanan.<\/strong><\/p>

Over the past year, we’ve made more progress against the influence of big money in politics than ever before. But taking back democracy means we need everyone -- even your cynical in-laws -- to understand they really can make a difference.<\/p>

May nagsasabi\u2026<\/em> "Ang Kongreso na ito ay walang magawa, kaya paano mangyayari ang reporma?"<\/h4>

Ang totoo ay\u2026 ang estado at lokal na mga aktibista ay nananalo ng malalaking tagumpay sa demokrasya.<\/strong><\/p>

Mula sa awtomatikong pagpaparehistro ng botante sa Oregon at California, hanggang sa mga landmark na hakbang sa balota upang palakasin ang pampublikong financing sa Maine at ihinto ang partisan gerrymandering sa Ohio.<\/p>

At noong nakaraang linggo lang ay tumulong kaming mapanatili ang sikat na Citizens Election Program sa Connecticut nang magbanta ang pamunuan ng Senado na magbawas. Naglalagay kami ng mga napatunayang reporma at nagsusumikap na dalhin ang mga ito sa buong bansa ayon sa pinahihintulutan ng mga mapagkukunan.<\/p>

May nagsasabi\u2026<\/em> "Hindi ka maaaring magtiwala sa sinuman sa Washington, lahat sila ay corrupt."<\/h4>

Ang totoo ay... okay na ang isa ay maaaring totoo, ngunit ang totoong problema ay sirang sistema<\/strong>, hindi masamang tao.<\/p>

Sa mga araw na ito, ang mga kandidato ay kailangang makalikom ng malaking halaga, kadalasang may kalakip na mga string, upang manatiling mapagkumpitensya.<\/p>

But that’s no reason to tune out -- we can and will change our system so good public servants can run for office without having to sell out.<\/p>

May nagsasabi\u2026<\/em> \u201cWalang nagmamalasakit sa pagbabago, kaya bakit ako?<\/h4>

Ang totoo ay\u2026 sama-sama nating binuo ang isang pambansang kilusan para sa demokrasya.<\/strong><\/p>

Don’t get us wrong -- there’s still plenty of reasons to mistrust politicians. But if we let that anger at a system that’s not working for us turn into resignation or cynicism, naglalaro kami mismo sa mga kamay ng mayayamang donor.<\/strong><\/p>

Ang mga pampulitikang operatiba at mga tagalobi na yumaman sa pamamagitan ng pananakit sa ating demokrasya ay walang iba kundi ang mga botante na masyadong naliligalig o nasisiraan ng loob na makisali.
