Common Cause President & CEO Joined by Aaron Scherb on Washingtonian List
Washington, D.C. – Washingtonian magazine has once again recognized Common Cause President & CEO Virginia Kase Solomón as one of the 500 Most Influential People in Washington, reaffirming her position as a leading voice on democracy and civil rights issues. She is joined on the prestigious list by Aaron Scherb, Common Cause’s Senior Director of Legislative Affairs, who was also honored again for his impactful work advancing pro-democracy legislation on Capitol Hill.
This recognition underscores the vital work Common Cause is doing and highlights the organization’s continued influence in shaping a more transparent, accountable, and representative government.
“Common Cause’s voice and work are as important now as they have ever been and this recognition speaks to the critical work the organization is doing at this pivotal moment for our democracy,” said Martha Tierney, Common Cause National Governing Board Chair. “We are seeing unprecedented attacks on civil rights, voting rights, and human rights and Common Cause is holding power accountable through the successful Fire Elon Musk campaign and more. Virginia and Aaron’s inclusion in this year’s list reflects their tireless commitment to fighting for a democracy that works for everyone. We’re proud to see their leadership recognized at such a high level at a critical moment for our democracy.”
Virginia Kase Solomón, a nationally recognized leader in democracy reform and civic engagement, has spent her career expanding access to the ballot box. She is a leader in the fights against the SAVE Act, drawing the connection between money and politics in today’s administration, and the unprecedented damage being inflicted by Elon Musk and DOGE. She has been featured recently on MSNBC, The Tavis Smiley Show, and NBC4 Washington, and Common Cause’s Fire Elon Musk campaign appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show.
Aaron Scherb, a veteran strategist and legislative advocate, is known for his sharp policy insights and tireless work advancing pro-democracy reforms in Congress and for fighting attempts on Capitol Hill to undermine our democracy.
