Zinnia works for Common Cause as a Senior Philanthropic Advisor where she collaborates with staff to share Common Cause’s impacts and outcomes while cultivating and stewarding relationships with major donors, family foundations, donor advised funds, and new philanthropic investors.
Zinnia joined Common Cause in 2020 as Development Coordinator for the North Carolina state office. There, she helped build out CCNC’s Development department by establishing systems for donor communications, cultivating donor portfolios for NC board and staff, and crafting a vision for future fund development. Zinnia worked closely with the CCNC state advisory board, executed numerous virtual events, and created materials for distribution among CCNC’s members and donors. Her proudest achievements include executing the Common Cause NC 50th Anniversary event and the legislative preview series which engaged donors from across the state, including the most urban and rural parts of NC.
Prior to Common Cause, Zinnia served as the Development Associate at the ACLU-NC. There, she worked closely with the Development Director to craft fundraising strategies to help advance civil liberties.
Zinnia is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she studied Communications with a Minor in Creative Writing Poetry.
