Doug Mastriano visited the Arizona State Fairgrounds yesterday, where charlatan consultants have been conducting a sham review of the November 2020 general election. He is\u00a0 proposing to replicate the process in Pennsylvania.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span>\r\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><b><i>Statement of Khalif Ali, Executive Director of Common Cause Pennsylvania<\/i><\/b><\/h4>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The people of Pennsylvania have spent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lancasteronline.com\/news\/politics\/republicans-airing-of-unfounded-election-fraud-claims-cost-pa-taxpayers-3-000\/article_d306e620-4f9c-11eb-a7a4-9bd3bbb284e1.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">enough money<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> indulging Sen. Mastriano\u2019s fantasies of overturning the presidential election results.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Our election results were already audited -- through <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.pa.gov\/pages\/State-details.aspx?newsid=453\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a real audit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Our election results have been certified, and our electoral votes counted by Congress. President Biden was inaugurated months ago.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What\u2019s happening in Arizona now is a costly sideshow. The Republican chairman of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors described it as \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/2021\/05\/21\/arizona-election-audit-trump-maricopa\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a grift disguised as an audit<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Make no mistake about it: some groups -- including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.winred.com\/arizona-republican-party\/integrityfund?exitintent=true\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the Arizona GOP<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> -- have been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azmirror.com\/2021\/05\/03\/everything-we-know-about-who-is-funding-the-arizona-election-audit\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">raising money off of it<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But it\u2019s the people of Arizona who are going to end up paying the costs. The private vendors\u2019 activities have irreversibly compromised both the ballots and the voting machines. The<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2021\/05\/20\/katie-hobbs-may-not-let-maricopa-co-reuse-voting-machines-after-audit\/5185817001\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">voting machines<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/elections\/maricopa-county-will-need-new-voting-machines-after-gop-s-n1268090\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">will need to be replaced<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, at a cost of millions of dollars. Ballots have been left<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/arizona-review-2020-vote-riddled-120356054.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">unattended and unsecured<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And now Sen. Mastriano wants to bring the Arizona sham review to our state as he <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cumberlink.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/barletta-to-decide-on-possible-run-for-governor-mastriano-shows-interest-as-well\/article_ddf29772-8571-5ef2-a383-41aec8e5aa63.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">considers running for Governor<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But the people of Pennsylvania shouldn\u2019t be forced to subsidize either Sen. Mastriano\u2019s fantasies or his political ambitions.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We urge the Pennsylvania Senate to listen to the Republican-controlled <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/context\/maricopa-county-officials-letter-to-senate-president\/b0f12bf1-4920-402e-8ea2-e49ed21a6b3d\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maricopa County Supervisors<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and stop this before it starts.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pennsylvania\u2019s voters have already spoken.
