“In a ‘government by the people’ – we owe it to each other to make sure we all vote” -- Voters Urged to Learn the Rules and Deadline Dates -- With Primary Day just over a week away, Common Cause Pennsylvania Executive Director Khalif Ali is urging Keystone State voters to “learn the rules and deadline dates – and make a plan to vote.”

That’s one of the reasons why Ballot PA — a coalition of civic and community organizations including Common Cause PA, the League of Women Voters, and the Committee of Seventy — has launched a campaign to open Pennsylvania’s closed primary system.

“There’s a clear solution: the Legislature can fully fund our elections system, if it doesn’t want counties to resort to private grant funding.”

It’s unfortunate that our Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee is spending time and resources on this, today. There are so many other things that Pennsylvania voters are concerned about – continuing access to telehealth services, help with housing needs, the economy and better jobs.

Common Cause Pennsylvania welcomes the news that Act 77 remains in effect during the Supreme Court proceedings. Almost 40% of Pennsylvanians who voted in the 2020 General Election used a mail ballot to cast their vote.
