Election Protection

In America, voters pick our leaders -- our leaders do not pick and choose which voices to heed and which to silence. Common Cause Pennsylvania strongly condemns this blatant and undemocratic attempt by partisan operatives to undermine the will of the voters in Pennsylvania.

“Once again, this court decision is a win for voters. We’re glad that this court, also, recognized the lack of evidence and lack of merit in this lawsuit. In America, voters choose our elected officials. Pennsylvania’s voters made a collective decision, weeks ago, and that decision needs to be honored.”

A federal district court judge today dismissed a lawsuit brought by President Trump’s campaign, dealing a crippling blow to the president’s attempts to undermine the election’s expected results in the commonwealth.

“Voters’ voices must be heard, whether they vote in person, by mail, or needed to cast a provisional ballot. Pennsylvania’s voters don’t deserve to have their ballots called into question by last-minute litigation filed for purely partisan reasons. The process of notifying and allowing voters to fix mistakes on their ballots should not be controversial.”

Polls have closed and voting may be finished, but tabulation of all the votes cast in the 2020 general election could take several days because of the high number of mail-in ballots, according to the nonpartisan Pennsylvania Election Protection Coalition.

“This is exactly what election protection is about --- making sure voters know their rights and have a nonpartisan resource to turn to where they can get their questions answered and find an ally who will ensure they get to cast their vote without interference.”
