From expanding access to the ballot to ensuring transparency and accountability in the government, we work for a government that serves the people in the place where American democracy was created.
In 2024, we organized the largest Election Protection program in our history, serving voters across Pennsylvania and ensuring that their voices were heard on Election Day. This legislative session, we will work to improve our system of elections, defend voters’ rights to cast a ballot, bring real redistricting reform to Pennsylvania, and hold officials accountable to the people.
Our legislative priorities for the 2025-2026 session include:
Expanding access to the ballot. Millions of Americans have the right to vote early in-person and to register to vote or update their voter registration on Election Day, and we’re working to extend those rights to Pennsylvania voters. We’re advocating for increased election funding so counties have the resources they need to modernize their elections with electronic poll books, satellite elections offices, and secure ballot drop boxes.
Improving election administration. Pennsylvania’s election code requires significant reforms to make sure all voters have the same opportunity to successfully cast a ballot, whether by mail or in-person. We are working to expand automatic voter registration, allow counties to pre-canvass mail ballots before Election Day, require counties to notify voters of and allow them to fix defects on their mail ballots, and close loopholes that allow bad actors to exploit our political system.
Combating dark money and foreign influence on our political system. We work to limit the influence of money in politics and give power back to the people. We advocate for limiting foreign spending on political campaigns, disclosing dark money campaign contributions, banning gifts to elected officials, and limiting the size of political donations.
Making our government more reflective and representative of the people. We will continue to fight for an independent citizens’ redistricting commission to draw our Congressional and legislative districts so that voters choose their representatives, instead of politicians choosing their voters.
Ensuring everyone’s vote truly counts in presidential elections. In two of the past seven presidential elections, the candidate who won the most popular votes lost the election. This year, we will support efforts to change this winner-take-all Electoral College system by activating the National Popular Vote compact here in Pennsylvania.
Regulating the use of generative artificial intelligence in political campaigns. Generative AI is a tool that can easily be misused to sow distrust and spread misinformation in elections. We are advocating for robust and inclusive disclosures on AI-generated political content to protect voters from false election information while respecting First Amendment rights.
From preserving the right to cast a mail ballot to promoting ethics and accountability in government, we'll continue to fight for a government serves the people in the place where American democracy was created.
