Tell Pennsylvania House Members: Oppose Burdensome Voter ID Bill HB 771
We’re contacting Pennsylvania House members to oppose HB 771, a Voter ID bill that would burden voters and potentially disenfranchise Pennsylvanians across the state. This bill will institute new paperwork and Voter ID requirements for in-person voting. Even though voters already prove their identity when they register to vote, this bill would require voters to show ID or complete a form every time they vote in-person.
This bill would burden voters who do not readily have ID or have had a name change. With a lack of acceptable ID in-person, voters will have to take additional bureaucratic steps to vote, including filling out an affidavit stating their identity.
Please join us in telling Pennsylvania house members to reject this bill and instead focus on fixing actual issues with the state’s election code, by passing reforms like early voting, consistent vote-by mail rules, and same-day voter registration.
