Sometimes looking back is the best way to look forward. Common Cause Ohio revisits five public scandals, their outcomes,and how some key players still haven\u2019t learned their lessons.<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u201cGroundhog Day is here,\u2019<\/b>\u2019 said Common Cause Ohio\u2019s Executive Director Catherine Turcer. <\/span>\u201cBut unlike the old Bill Murray movie, what\u2019s happening day after day in Ohio isn\u2019t funny at all. Ohioans are sick of it.\u2019\u2019<\/b>\r\n\r\nTurcer urges policymakers to look closely at a few of <\/span>Ohio\u2019s notable scandals <\/b>and enact reforms to end the <\/span>cycle of corruption<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\r\n\r\nCommon Cause Ohio\u2019s latest push for structural change comes as former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder and former Ohio Republican Party chairman Matt Borges stand trial for racketeering as it relates to <\/span>HB 6 and dark money<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u201cFor real accountability, Ohio needs real transparency,\u201d<\/b> Turcer said. <\/span>\u201cOtherwise, the current Householder and House Bill 6 scandal simply becomes a tutorial for misdeeds in Ohio lobbying and elections.\u201d<\/b>\r\n\r\nOhio has the power to keep history from continuing to repeat itself by adopting the package of reforms that Common Cause Ohio originally proposed in its 2020<\/span> Blueprint for Democracy<\/b><\/a>. <\/b>Reforms include:<\/span>\r\n<\/span>\r\n
