Tell your legislators to Take the Pledge to End Gerrymandering!","featured_image":5101,"article_type":153,"authors":null,"related_issues":false,"related_work":false,"location":null},"sidebar":{"helper_enable_sidebar":false,"helper_media_contact":{"heading":"Media Contact","manually_enter_person":false,"person":null,"name":"","role":"","phone":"","email":""},"helper_links_downloads":{"heading":"Links & Downloads","links":null}},"page_layout":[{"acf_fc_layout":"layout_wysiwyg","_acfe_flexible_toggle":null,"component_wysiwyg":{"content":"<strong>On June 27, the\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/18pdf\/18-422_9ol1.pdf?link_id=0&amp;can_id=5121b1f92433c6d0b5b311bc5ea8105c&amp;source=email-scotus-decision-on-gerrymandering&amp;email_referrer=&amp;email_subject=scotus-decision-on-gerrymandering\"><strong>US Supreme Court ruled<\/strong><\/a><strong> that the federal judiciary cannot rein in partisan gerrymandering.\u00a0<\/strong>The Court had the opportunity to end partisan gerrymandering once and for all but instead a narrow majority chose to wash their hands of any responsibility for stopping rigged elections.\r\n\r\n<strong>Now the fight for #FairMaps returns to the states.<\/strong> We here in Ohio are grateful that we have already passed restrictions on gerrymandering for both the state legislature and US Congress. Because of the hard work of Fair Districts volunteers and advocates, we passed anti-gerrymandering legislation in 2015 and 2018. Nevertheless, we still need to keep up the pressure on our legislators to let them know we are paying attention!\r\n\r\nOne practical step you can take is to take the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/petitions\/take-the-end-gerrymandering-pledge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pledge to End Gerrymandering<\/a> and urge your legislator to take the pledge as well.
