Trump\u2019s cabinet, and yet, he has been given permission to gut the federal government. Musk donated a shocking <\/span>$288 million to support Trump\u2019s campaign<\/span><\/a>\u2014but it was clearly a clever investment: Over the years, our government has provided Musk with <\/span>contracts, subsidies, and tax credit to the tune of $38 billion<\/span><\/a>, and he may soon receive an <\/span>additional contract for $2 billion<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nClearly, this is madness. To put pressure on Congress, Common Cause attempted to <\/span>place an ad<\/span><\/a> calling for Musk\u2019s firing in the Washington Post. It caused quite a stir when <\/span>the newspaper refused<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n

Take action\u2013<\/b> Sign the petition to fire Musk<\/b><\/a> and <\/b>call your US Senators and Representatives<\/b><\/a>.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\r\nWe need to get the word out about the tremendous harm being caused by the attack on the federal workforce. <\/span>Check out this video<\/span><\/a> featuring workers fired by Musk\u2019s Department of Government Efficiency. These kinds of personal stories are <\/span>so important.<\/b> Please tell <\/span>YOUR<\/b> story by filling out <\/span>this form<\/span><\/a>, and share the form with others you know have been impacted by the firings, threats, and funding freezes.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nCommon Cause Ohio is holding<\/b> writing office hours at noon on Tuesday and Thursday in March<\/b><\/a> if you would like help crafting your story so that you can publish it as a letter to the editor, social media or blog post.<\/span>\r\n\r\nTalk to your friends or neighbors about DOGE. <\/span>Talking points about DOGE from Innovation Ohio.\u00a0<\/span><\/a>\r\n\r\nWear your opposition<\/span><\/a>! Zeno\u2019s is a union shop.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAdvocacy at the Ohio Statehouse<\/b>\r\n\r\nThe new Ohio General Assembly is moving much more quickly than last session. <\/span>Check out this resource<\/span><\/a> with information about legislation and links to the bills that are moving.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nMany of us are tracking Senate Bill 1 which undercuts higher education and is now fast tracked in the Ohio House. <\/span>Click here for messaging tips<\/span><\/a> about Senate Bill 1 and <\/span>consider testifying<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Hearing details will likely be announced on Friday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe SAVE Act <\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nThe SAVE Act would place the burden on every single American citizen to prove their citizenship when registering to vote or updating their voter registration, by either presenting a passport or a birth certificate in person \u2013 even though millions of Americans don\u2019t have these documents. Clearly, this proposed legislation would <\/span>disenfranchise eligible voters.<\/span><\/a> Registering to vote would become more complicated for women who changed their names when they married so that their birth certificates don\u2019t match their name. <\/span>One in ten Americans can\u2019t easily produce the necessary documents<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\r\n
