Directe democratie geeft kiezers de mogelijkheid om een echte impact te maken en heeft geholpen om inwoners van Ohio te betrekken bij het politieke proces. Er is geen enkele rechtvaardiging om dit toch al uitdagende proces na meer dan 100 jaar nog moeilijker te maken.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cVandaag heeft een schijncomit\u00e9 openbare getuigenissen in oppositie geblokkeerd. Dit is niet hoe democratie eruit zou moeten zien. Extreme wetgevers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ohiohouse.gov\/committees\/constitutional-resolutions\/meetings\/cmte_h_constitutional_resolutions_1_2023-04-19-0900_356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">meer dan 100 inwoners van Ohio afgewezen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> die tijd van hun dag namen om te verschijnen en te getuigen in de oppositie. Commissievoorzitter Phil Plummer wilde duidelijk niets horen van kiezers. In Ohio en dit land betekent een simpele meerderheid dat 50 plus \u00e9\u00e9n gelijk is aan democratie. We zullen deze ondemocratische, oneerlijke, onnodige en impopulaire aanval op stemrecht en vrijheid niet toestaan.\u201d<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bovendien heeft de Senaat van Ohio een wet aangenomen <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislature.ohio.gov\/legislation\/135\/sjr2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gezamenlijke resolutie 2 van de Senaat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> vanmiddag, wat ook de drempel voor het aannemen van amendementen op de grondwet van Ohio verandert naar 60 procent.
