De kiezers in Ohio stemden in met het opnemen van reproductieve rechten in de grondwet van Ohio (57-43%), maar op de verkiezingsavond zei Jason Stephens, voorzitter van het Huis van Afgevaardigden van Ohio: &quot;De wetgevende macht heeft meerdere paden die we zullen verkennen om onschuldig leven te blijven beschermen.&quot;<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eerder dit jaar probeerde de staatswetgever de macht van de kiezers af te pakken. In augustus kwamen de inwoners van Ohio op voor democratie en voor ons recht om rechtstreeks naar de kiezers te stappen toen de staatswetgever<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">niet inspeelt op de behoeften en zorgen van de meerderheid.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>En nu ligt het Hooggerechtshof van Ohio onder vuur!\u00a0<\/b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De Algemene Vergadering van Ohio is niet verantwoordelijk en geeft al jaren geen uiting aan de wil van de kiezers. Nu stellen sommige wetgevers voor dat zij in plaats van de rechtbanken bepalen wat grondwettelijk is.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nu willen vier wetgevers de jurisdictie van de rechtbanken ontnemen. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ohiohouse.gov\/news\/republican\/deceptive-ohio-issue-1-misled-the-public-but-doesnt-repeal-our-laws-117412\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vrijdag persbericht<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> van de afgevaardigden van de staat Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester), Bill Dean (R-Xenia), Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) en Beth Lear (R-Galena) zeiden dat &quot;alleen de wetgevende macht van Ohio zal overwegen welke wijzigingen er eventueel moeten worden aangebracht in bestaande wetten op basis van openbare hoorzittingen en input van juridische experts aan beide kanten.&quot;\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/act.commoncause.org\/letters\/urge-ohio-lawmakers-to-respects-voters-decision-on-issue-1\/\"><b>ONDERNEEM ACTIE<\/b><\/a><\/h3>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De leiders van de staatswetgevende macht hebben een duidelijk patroon van het negeren en niet respecteren van de kiezers, de grondwet van Ohio en het Hooggerechtshof van Ohio.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2015 keurden de inwoners van Ohio met overweldigende meerderheid verboden op gerrymandering door de staatswetgever goed. In 2018 stemden bijna 75% om deze verboden in de grondwet van Ohio op te nemen voor congresdistricten. Het Hooggerechtshof van Ohio heeft twee congreskaarten en vijf sets van staatswetgeverskaarten verworpen als ongrondwettelijk.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wij moeten degenen die ons vertegenwoordigen eraan herinneren dat zij verantwoording aan ons moeten afleggen. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/act.commoncause.org\/letters\/urge-ohio-lawmakers-to-respects-voters-decision-on-issue-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Dring er bij uw staatsvertegenwoordiger op aan om de wil van de kiezers en de checks and balances die in de grondwet van Ohio zijn vastgelegd, te respecteren. ONDERNEEM VANDAAG NOG ACTIE!<\/b><\/a>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ze kunnen niet wegkomen met deze aanval op kiezers en de rechtbanken.
