Je m&#039;appelle Mia Lewis et je suis ici au nom de Common Cause Ohio et de ses 30 000 membres. Le droit de voter et de faire entendre notre voix est fondamental pour notre d\u00e9mocratie repr\u00e9sentative. Mais pendant une pand\u00e9mie, voter en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9 peut \u00eatre un d\u00e9fi.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dans un <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/15jPggQ3asyaELODKaUHPxGiVrsOwyjNx\/view?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">rapport r\u00e9cent<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Selon une \u00e9tude soumise au secr\u00e9taire d&#039;\u00c9tat de l&#039;Ohio, le Dr Norman Robbins a estim\u00e9 que plus de 43 % des habitants de l&#039;Ohio courent un risque \u00e9lev\u00e9 de complications graves s&#039;ils contractent la COVID-19 en raison de leur \u00e2ge, de probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9 sous-jacents ou d&#039;autres facteurs. Cela repr\u00e9sente 2,3 millions d&#039;\u00e9lecteurs de l&#039;Ohio pour qui il est particuli\u00e8rement dangereux de se rendre dans un bureau de vote le jour du scrutin et de voter.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Il est clair qu&#039;il faut agir \u2013 et de toute urgence \u2013 pour inciter les \u00e9lecteurs de l&#039;Ohio \u00e0 utiliser une autre option qui leur est offerte depuis longtemps\u00a0: le vote par correspondance. Encourager le vote \u00e0 domicile contribuera \u00e0 freiner la propagation du virus. Moins de personnes dans les bureaux de vote le jour de l&#039;\u00e9lection r\u00e9duiront les files d&#039;attente et les attroupements, et permettront d&#039;assurer une exp\u00e9rience plus s\u00fbre pour ceux qui choisissent de voter en personne, tout en prot\u00e9geant le personnel des bureaux de vote et les responsables des \u00e9lections.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Le projet de loi 680 de la Chambre des repr\u00e9sentants, dans sa forme actuelle, contribue-t-il \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger les \u00e9lecteurs de l\u2019Ohio ? Malheureusement, en interdisant au secr\u00e9taire d\u2019\u00c9tat de fournir des envois pr\u00e9pay\u00e9s pour les demandes et les bulletins de vote par correspondance, il rend le vote par correspondance plus difficile, plut\u00f4t que plus facile. C\u2019est exactement le contraire de ce qui est n\u00e9cessaire pour assurer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des habitants de l\u2019Ohio.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Quel est le but de cette interdiction ? Quel probl\u00e8me le fait de payer les frais de retour entra\u00eene-t-il, et quel probl\u00e8me est r\u00e9solu en obligeant les \u00e9lecteurs de l&#039;Ohio \u00e0 aller acheter un timbre en pleine pand\u00e9mie ?\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Si l\u2019objectif est de prot\u00e9ger les \u00e9lecteurs de l\u2019Ohio et de garantir des \u00e9lections s\u00fbres et s\u00e9curis\u00e9es pendant une pand\u00e9mie, je vous exhorte \u00e0 supprimer la disposition interdisant l\u2019envoi postal pr\u00e9pay\u00e9 et \u00e0 modifier plut\u00f4t le projet de loi pour soutenir ces trois moyens simples et efficaces d\u2019encourager le vote par correspondance :<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inclure les frais de retour pay\u00e9s sur les demandes de vote et les bulletins de vote\u00a0;<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Autoriser les demandes en ligne de vote par correspondance\u00a0;<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mettre en place des bo\u00eetes de d\u00e9p\u00f4t suppl\u00e9mentaires, s\u00e9curis\u00e9es et pratiques pour les bulletins de vote par correspondance.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tous trois sont soutenus par l\u2019Ohio Elections Officials Association et le secr\u00e9taire d\u2019\u00c9tat.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">En supprimant ce qui d\u00e9courage le vote par correspondance et en ajoutant ce qui l&#039;encourage, le projet de loi 680 de la Chambre peut passer d&#039;un projet de loi qui nuit aux \u00e9lecteurs \u00e0 un projet de loi qui contribue \u00e0 assurer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 des \u00e9lecteurs de l&#039;Ohio, des agents \u00e9lectoraux et des \u00e9lections.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nFaites entendre votre voix !
