Testimonio sobre el Proyecto de Ley Subcomisario 1<\/b><\/p>\r\n

Ante el Comit\u00e9 de Seguridad P\u00fablica de la C\u00e1mara de Representantes de Ohio<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

17 de marzo de 2026<\/span><\/p>\r\n \r\n\r\nSe\u00f1or presidente Abrams, vicepresidente Miller, miembro de mayor rango Thomas y miembros del Comit\u00e9 de Seguridad P\u00fablica de la C\u00e1mara de Representantes, gracias por esta oportunidad de testificar hoy en oposici\u00f3n al Proyecto de Ley Sustitutivo de la C\u00e1mara de Representantes n\u00famero 1.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nMi nombre es Mia Lewis y soy la directora asociada de Common Cause Ohio, una organizaci\u00f3n comprometida con un gobierno abierto y responsable. Si bien el proyecto de ley sustitutivo aborda algunas de las preocupaciones planteadas \u2014y ahora exime a quienes tienen la Tarjeta Verde y estatus militar\u2014, la legislaci\u00f3n contin\u00faa discriminando por origen nacional. Esto entra en conflicto directo con las leyes vigentes que rigen la propiedad, el debido proceso y la igualdad ante la ley. Estados Unidos es una naci\u00f3n de inmigrantes. Para quienes tenemos familias que llevan mucho tiempo en este pa\u00eds, es dif\u00edcil comprender la discriminaci\u00f3n que sufrieron. En ocasiones, nuestro pa\u00eds ha actuado movido por el miedo y no ha estado a la altura de sus ideales, pero eso no significa que debamos retroceder. Cualquier nueva ley debe reflejar nuestro compromiso de tratarnos con igualdad, independientemente de nuestra raza, etnia o nacionalidad.<\/span>\r\n\r\nAdem\u00e1s, el proyecto de ley sigue definiendo la \u201cinfraestructura cr\u00edtica\u201d de forma tan amplia que abarca pr\u00e1cticamente todos los servicios p\u00fablicos y sistemas de comunicaciones esenciales. Reducir la zona de exclusi\u00f3n de 25 a 10 millas parece un paso en la direcci\u00f3n correcta, pero 10 millas a\u00fan abarcan una franja demasiado extensa de Ohio. M\u00e1s importante a\u00fan, no hay pruebas de que las prohibiciones de propiedad establecidas en el Subproyecto de Ley HB 1 mejoren realmente la seguridad nacional o hagan de Ohio un lugar m\u00e1s seguro.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nLes insto encarecidamente a que se opongan al Proyecto de Ley Subdivisi\u00f3n 1.
