Common Cause Ohio Hosts Threats to the Rule of Law Webinar

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us last night for Subodh Chandra’s and Omar Noureldin’s conversation about the rule of law and attacks on due process.

This was a fascinating discussion on due process and the rule of law between two eminent civil rights lawyers. Click here for the recording.

Common Cause Ohio hosted the event with the Ohio Fair Courts Alliance and ACLU of Ohio and the League of Women Voters of Ohio as co-sponsors.

The event featured work and advice from Subodh Chandra, a civil rights attorney whose career includes high-profile cases such as voting-rights litigation against various voter-suppression schemes. He may be best known for representing Tamir Rice’s parents in their lawsuit against the city of Cleveland. Omar Noureldin is the Senior Vice President of Policy and Litigation Strategy at Common Cause. Prior to his tenure at Common Cause, he was Senior Counsel for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice.

This is not a drill. Due process and the rule of law are under constant attack. We are witnessing the near daily disregard of constitutional protections at the federal level and, at best, a slippery slope of lawmaking here in Ohio.

So many people want to know what they can DO. Here are some of Subodh Chandra’s suggestions for organizations to support and actions to take.
