He seeks to overturn the 2024 election and steal a seat on the NC Supreme Court.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n[caption id=\"attachment_24960\" align=\"aligncenter\" width=\"1024\"]<img class=\"size-large wp-image-24960\" src=\"https:\/\/www.commoncause.org\/north-carolina\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Griffin_billboard-1024x574.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"574\" \/> Billboard in Wake County[\/caption]\r\n\r\nRALEIGH \u2013 A nonpartisan coalition of voting rights groups is calling on Jefferson Griffin, who lost a bid for a seat on the NC Supreme Court, to stop his shameful attempt to throw out the ballots of 60,000 North Carolinians and to instead respect the will of the voters.\r\n\r\nMultiple recounts and careful audits have confirmed that North Carolina voters selected Justice Allison Riggs over Griffin in this year\u2019s race for the NC Supreme Court.\r\n\r\nHowever, Griffin has refused to accept the lawful outcome of the election. Instead, he and his campaign are unjustly targeting 60,000 North Carolina voters \u2013 with young people and Black voters challenged at higher rates \u2013 in hopes of tossing out their ballots and handing himself a seat on the state\u2019s highest court.\r\n\r\nIn his latest desperate move, Griffin asked the Republican-majority NC Supreme Court to help him toss out votes and change the election results.\r\n\r\n\u201cThat\u2019s ridiculous,\u201d said Terri B. of Granville County in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salisburypost.com\/2024\/12\/10\/bob-hall-voters-denounce-effort-to-disqualify-their-ballots\/\">recent op-ed<\/a>, who is among the voters being challenged without any evidence. \u201cThrowing out my ballot would mean what I say doesn\u2019t matter.\u201d Terri registered to vote in 2004 at 21 and has voted in numerous elections over the past decade without incident.\r\n\r\nIn response to Griffin\u2019s shameful challenge of 60,000 voters, a nonpartisan coalition of voting rights groups is launching a public information campaign alerting North Carolinians to the dangers posed by Griffin\u2019s attempt to throw out ballots and reverse the election outcome. The voting rights groups\u2019 outreach will include <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1mGR3gaq4mF9hHn7YiuPqVRP-c4Q5eMFE\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>billboards<\/strong><\/a>, along with digital communications across social media platforms, and <a href=\"https:\/\/act.commoncause.org\/forms\/tell-the-nc-supreme-court-stop-griffins-sham\/\"><strong>an online petition<\/strong><\/a> calling for Griffin to stop undermining the will of voters.\r\n\r\n\u201cThe votes have been counted, and counted again. The results are confirmed. The people have spoken. Now, Jefferson Griffin should honor the will of the voters rather than focus on disenfranchising large numbers of them,\u201d said <strong>Gino Nuzzolillo, campaigns manager with Common Cause North Carolina.<\/strong> \u201cOur coalition\u2019s public information campaign will continue until Griffin ends his shameful attempt to undermine the will of voters. It\u2019s time to respect the election outcome and let North Carolina move forward.\u201d\r\n\r\n\u201cNot accepting the results of an election and disingenuously impugning the voters with trying to cheat is reprehensible,\u201d said <strong>Dawn Blagrove with Emancipate Votes<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cThis election has been decided. Hard stop. Any effort to undo the results is like changing the rule of the game because your team did not win. That is not democracy.\u201d\r\n\r\n\u201cThis is a baseless attack on eligible voters,\u201d said <strong>Katelin Kaiser, policy director at Democracy North Carolina<\/strong>. \u201cThese voters followed the rules, provided forms of legal identification, and elected Justice Riggs as their candidate of choice for the NC Supreme Court.
