Los neoyorquinos que participaron en 24 primarias del Ayuntamiento tuvieron la oportunidad de clasificar a sus candidatos por orden de preferencia. Solo 3 contiendas llegaron a rondas y el p\u00fablico pudo monitorearlas en l\u00ednea con funciones mejoradas de informes de RCV.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nEn junio de 2021, casi un mill\u00f3n de neoyorquinos hicieron historia al votar en la elecci\u00f3n de votaci\u00f3n por orden de preferencia (RCV, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) m\u00e1s grande y diversa del pa\u00eds. Los votantes adoptaron el sistema de votaci\u00f3n por orden de preferencia: el 831% de los votantes incluy\u00f3 al menos a dos candidatos en sus boletas en las primarias para alcalde.\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Desde que los votantes aprobaron el sistema de votaci\u00f3n por orden de preferencia en 2019, Common Cause New York trabaj\u00f3 activamente con Rank the Vote NYC para garantizar su implementaci\u00f3n sin problemas. Juntos, realizamos m\u00e1s de 500 capacitaciones sobre votaci\u00f3n por orden de preferencia para votantes, candidatos, organizaciones asociadas y funcionarios electos; distribuimos m\u00e1s de un mill\u00f3n de piezas de literatura informativa y construimos alianzas con m\u00e1s de 750 organizaciones.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona la votaci\u00f3n por orden de preferencia en Nueva York?<\/b>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En lugar de votar por un solo candidato, los neoyorquinos ahora pueden clasificar a sus 5 candidatos principales de primera a \u00faltima opci\u00f3n en la boleta en todas las elecciones primarias y especiales para Alcalde, Contralor, Defensor del Pueblo, Presidente del Distrito y Concejo Municipal. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Si los votantes todav\u00eda quieren votar por un solo candidato, pueden hacerlo.<\/span><\/i>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El candidato que obtiene la mayor\u00eda de los votos, el cincuenta por ciento m\u00e1s uno, gana. Si ning\u00fan candidato recibe m\u00e1s del cincuenta por ciento de las preferencias de primera opci\u00f3n, el candidato con menos preferencias de primera opci\u00f3n es eliminado y los votos de los votantes que clasificaron a ese candidato en primer lugar se cuentan instant\u00e1neamente para su segunda preferencia.
