Las autoridades de inmigraci\u00f3n mantienen detenido a Khalil sin notificar a su familia ni a su abogado sobre su paradero y le han informado, a pesar de ser residente permanente, que le han revocado su tarjeta de residencia.\u00a0En respuesta, Susan Lerner, directora ejecutiva de Common Cause New York, emiti\u00f3 la siguiente declaraci\u00f3n:<\/strong>\r\n\r\nLa detenci\u00f3n de Mahmoud Khalil \u2014quien posee una tarjeta verde estadounidense\u2014 o de cualquier persona por sus opiniones pol\u00edticas constituye un ataque a nuestros derechos fundamentales y pone en riesgo la seguridad de todos los estadounidenses. Las autoridades federales de inmigraci\u00f3n no pueden detener a residentes permanentes legales sin imputarles un delito, ni pueden deportarlos sin una condena.
