Common Cause New Mexico, Election Reformers Network and the League of Women Voters of New Mexico joined with national redistricting experts in filing an amicus brief in New Mexico’s Fifth Judicial District in a case challenging the state’s congressional maps.

The best solution to prevent partisan gerrymandering is a constitutional amendment to create an independent redistricting commission.

End-of-Session Statement 2023 NM Legislature

SB 180, sponsored by Sen. Katy Duhigg, Sen. Leo Jaramillo and Rep. Gail Chasey, will result in more efficient and secure elections according to Common Cause New Mexico. The bill was passed by the NM House today and is headed to the Governor.
