Limits on the Influence of Money In Politics

During the 2021 session, Common Cause New Mexico is advocating for expanding public financing of judicial races, adopting ranked choice voting, expanding voter access, redistricting reform, shining a light on campaign contributions and spending, and more transparency around lobbying activities.

Common Cause has two major priorities for the 2021 legislative session: expanding public financing of judicial races and statewide ranked choice voting.

“Dark money is harmful to New Mexico voters because they can’t see who is truly behind those ads," said Heather Ferguson, executive director of Common Cause New Mexico.
