Role: National Youth Engagement Social Media Intern
Location: Virtual or Hybrid in Washington, DC
Start Date: February 1st – April 15th
Reports to: Youth Engagement Organizer
Details: This is a part-time internship (10 hours/week), starting Thursday, February 1st and ending on Monday, April 15th
Essential functions: Common Cause is seeking interns to work with our national youth engagement team relating to communicating about voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform to our youth base and other young people. The social media intern will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to and values a fair and transparent democracy, and who is keenly interested in learning more about graphic design and digital engagement.
Skills you will build and work you will be involved in
- Build engaging content for social media platforms (Videos, photos, info graphs, text, live streams, polls, etc.)
- Manage posting content to various social media platforms.
- Translate aspects of our Youth Programs work into content that can be shared on social media
Qualifications
You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:
- A passion for learning about elections, government affairs, and the legislative process
- A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
- A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
- A willingness to learn new skills
Compensation: $1,785 for the 10.5 weeks paid in 5 equal twice monthly payments on the 15th and last day of the month.
Classification: This position is classified as temporary and therefore not included in the union-represented collective bargaining unit.
