Community and BIPOC groups to hold press conference

Local community and BIPOC-led organizations will hold a press conference to outline their priorities for the 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session on Thursday, January 16.

Local community and BIPOC-led organizations will hold a press conference to outline their priorities for the 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session on Thursday, January 16. 

The groups will address why the need for your legislative advocacy is NOW and the importance of co-creating legislative change with impacted communities.  

The following groups will be in attendance: Common Cause Minnesota, African, Latino, Asian and Native American Workforce (ALANA), African Career Education Resource Inc. (ACER), Asian American Organizing Project (AAOP), Hispanic Advocacy and Community Empowerment through Research (HACER), Islamic Civic Society of America (ICSA), Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage (CMAH), Minnesota Indian Affairs Council (MIAC), Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind & Hard of Hearing, Minnesota Council on Latino Affairs (MCLA), Minnesota Immigrant Movement (MIM). Deaf and hard of hearing interpreters will be present for the press conference. The groups ask that the interpreters be included in any video coverage of the event.  

WHO: Common Cause Minnesota, and 10 other community groups representing multiple ethnic or underrepresented communities.  

WHAT: Press conference to address the 2025 Minnesota Legislature.
