Press Release
The Public Must Be Involved in Capitol Changes
In response to public and private conversations about legislators and Capitol campus security, Common Cause Minnesota is releasing the following statement.
“Right now, conversations about changes to the Capitol campus about security are happening mostly in private. But Minnesotans deserve to be part of a discussion that directly impacts the public,” said Annastacia Belladonna-Carrera, executive director of Common Cause Minnesota. “We encourage members of the Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security to hold these conversations publicly. A safe Minnesota Capitol is vital — and we can achieve that while also including public interest in strengthening the openness, accountability, and transparency that define good government. Minnesotans value having a say in the decisions impacting access to elected officials.”
