Boston, MA \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Today, the Boston City Council passed a resolution\u00a0designating March 16-22, 2025 as \u2018Sunshine Week,\u2019 to shine a light on the importance of accessible and open government. The\u00a0resolution<\/a>\u00a0was sponsored by City Councilor Liz Breadon and City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune and was filed in partnership with Common Cause Massachusetts and other good government advocates. Through the resolution, councilmembers affirmed their support for\u00a0legislation requiring permanent remote access for public meetings<\/a>, one of\u00a0Common Cause\u2019s top priorities<\/a>\u00a0for this legislative session.<\/div>\r\n

\u201cAll Bostonians deserve an open, accessible, and transparent government. By passing this resolution, the Boston City Council is showing their commitment to open government this Sunshine Week and beyond,\u201d said\u00a0Geoff Foster, Executive Director of Common Cause Massachusetts.\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cSupporting legislation to require permanent remote access to public meetings is another key step to ensuring everyone can participate in our government.\u201d<\/div>\r\n

With a population of\u00a0653,833 people<\/a>, Boston is the largest municipality in Massachusetts to voice support for permanently requiring remote access to public meetings.<\/div>\r\n
