Common Cause Massachusetts Hosts “The People’s Lobby Day”

Bay Staters advocated for voting reforms like Same Day Registration

Boston, MA – Yesterday, Common Cause Massachusetts hosted “The People’s Lobby Day,” its 2025 lobby day at the Massachusetts State House.

“Since the launch of our Platform for People Power earlier this year, Common Cause members across Massachusetts have shown they are ready to show up and fight for democracy when it matters most. The People’s Lobby Day was all about bringing everyday people directly to the halls of power at the State House to speak to their lawmakers about pro-democracy bills like Same Day Registration, guaranteed hybrid meeting access, and ballot question funding transparency. To that end, the lobby day was a great success” said Geoff Foster, Executive Director of Common Cause Massachusetts.

40 people from across the Bay State gathered at the State House – nearly half of whom visited the State House for their first time – and another 75 contacted their lawmakers engaging nearly 100 state lawmakers or their staff to advocate for much needed pro-democracy policies, including:

  • H.3299 Guaranteed hybrid public meetings; and
  • H. 868/ S.507 Ballot Spending Transparency Act.

The People’s Lobby Day followed the announcement earlier this week of the Ballot Spending Transparency Act, legislation to increase transparency in the reporting process for campaign spending on statewide ballot questions.
