This is a study of campaign contributions and lobbying expenditures by companies opposed to legislation to reduce air pollution in Maryland. Part One tracks $4.2 million in lobbying expenditures and over $440,000 in campaign contributions since 1999 from power companies (and their directors and key employees) opposed to legislation to reduce power plant emissions and to improve energy efficiency in the state. Part Two tracks $1.6 million in lobbying and over $330,000 in contributions over this same period from automobile dealers and manufacturers opposed to legislation to promote Low- Emission Vehicles (LEVs) in Maryland.
