Kennedy Lighty is pursuing a Political Science Ph.D. at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her focus is on American Politics, Race and ethnic Politics, and Health Policy.

Kennedy joined the Common Cause Maryland team during the 2025 legislative session, where she worked to help protect and solidify the rights of individuals throughout Maryland. She continues to work with the team throughout the summer on local campaigns focused on public campaign financing and redistricting.
