As the Maryland General Assembly tries to balance protecting public health and doing ‘the people’s business,’ Common Cause Maryland will be working to ensure our Legislature remains committed to transparency and preserving public involvement. While Common Cause Maryland’s primary role will be protecting every Marylanders’ right to view and participate in the work of the General Assembly, the bills listed below reflect our priorities for the 90-day session.

Ballot Question A asks whether Baltimore County voters want to establish a Citizens' Election Fund, also known as a fair elections program, in the county. There are four main reasons to vote Yes for A: keep big money out of politics, expand opportunities to run for office, give everyone a voice, and encourage more participation in our democracy.

Primary election day is tomorrow, June 2nd -- and the hype around this election is notably different from elections past. Because of COVID-19, we are all looking at the process of voting a little differently. But there are plenty of options for voters who want to make their voices heard in the Primary Election. There are also plenty of reasons why voting in this election is just as important as voting in all other elections.

Today, District 7 residents can honor US Representative Elijah Cummings by voting.
