Maryland Grassroots Groups Urge State Board of Elections to Authorize More Federal Agencies to Register Voters

Everyone Votes Maryland and Demos today released a letter to state officials urging that the State Board of Elections authorize additional federal agencies to register voters.

Common Cause Maryland has been monitoring the redistricting process at the local and state level. We have compiled maps that have been adopted in jurisdictions throughout the state as well as any of the relevant documents for your review. Please note that not all jurisdictions have redrawn their voting districts. While technology has helped increase transparency around the process this cycle, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in order to ensure that we have fair maps that fully represent Maryland’s diverse population. Advocates called on Gov. Hogan to sign the bill, which they deem a monumental step forward to improve on the program and expand the funding to enable multiple candidates to participate.

Maryland Senate Updates and Funds Gubernatorial Public Financing Program

In a strong bipartisan vote (39-6), the Maryland State Senate has approved a bill to update and fund the state's small donor public financing program for gubernatorial candidates. Maryland’s current public financing system for the gubernatorial race was implemented in the 1970s.
