Common Cause Statement on the Death of Rev. Jesse Jackson

The following is a statement from Common Cause President & CEO Virginia Kase Solomón on the death of Rev. Jesse Jackson:

“Rev. Jesse Jackson was a voice for the voiceless and hope for the hopeless in his unrelenting fight for justice, equality, and the ballot for all. He understood the plight of the poor and gave strength to those who had long been ignored by their own government.

His call to ‘keep hope alive’ was not a slogan. It was a discipline. A charge. A reminder that progress requires courage, organization, and an unshakable belief that ordinary people, when mobilized, can bend the arc of history toward justice.

It’s our responsibility now to continue his campaign to keep hope alive as we work for a government accountable to the people.”
