EVENT: Townhall on Impact of State, Federal Budget Cuts

Common Cause Indiana and several organizations will host the "Uphold the People’s Promise" Townhall on Thursday, August 14 at Southeast Community Services, 901 Shelby St, Indianapolis, IN 46203

Common Cause Indiana and several organizations will host the “Uphold the People’s Promise” Townhall on Thursday, August 14 at Southeast Community Services, 901 Shelby St, Indianapolis, IN 46203.

The goal of the event is to educate community members, help them gain access to resources and knowledge about changes, and encourage them to participate civically. There will not be endorsements of any candidates or political parties at the event. The townhall will include a panel with speakers from Common Cause Indiana, Indiana Justice Project, Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, State Senator Andrea Hunley, Dr. Natalie Guerrero of Project Salud and Abduallah Muhammed of Validus Movement.

“State and federal budgets are often discussed with abstract numbers but the reality is that the cuts affect real Hoosiers lives,” said Julia Vaughn, executive director of Common Cause Indiana. “Our townhall is designed to give Indianapolis residents real answers about the cuts, how they can access services, and how they can personally lobby their elected leaders with the stories of how these cuts affect the lives of Hoosiers.”
