Advocates Urge Valpo Council to Pass People First Redistricting Measure
After holding multiple public meetings, Common Cause Indiana is encouraging the Valparaiso City Council to approve a new ordinance creating an independent redistricting commission for city council districts.
It is clear the public supports this move to allow the people to control how district lines shape communities and city policies, Common Cause Indiana Executive Director Julia Vaughn says. .
“Putting power in the people’s hands when it comes to drawing city district lines is one of the best ways to ensure effective, responsive government. The city council is expected to take up the ordinance at its Monday, October 27, meeting
