In 2021 demonstreerde onze modelcommissie voor herindeling, de Indiana Citizens Redistricting Commission, hoe herindeling zou moeten plaatsvinden: door een multipartijdige en diverse groep inwoners van Indiana zonder direct belang bij de uitkomst. De openbare kaartwedstrijd die we sponsorden, toonde aan dat inwoners van Indiana zeer goed in staat zijn om nieuwe districten te tekenen zonder partijdige vooroordelen en met respect voor de belangen van de bevolking. Helaas maakt het politieke klimaat binnen het Congres en het Huis van Afgevaardigden van Indiana State hervorming van de herindeling op federaal en staatsniveau momenteel onwaarschijnlijk. Hoewel we in coalitieverband blijven werken aan hervormingen op staatsniveau, richten we ons momenteel op het opbouwen van draagvlak voor het invoeren van lokale verordeningen om volkscommissies voor herindeling op te richten voor gemeenteraden en districtscommissies, zoals die in Bloomington, Goshen en Monroe County zijn aangenomen. Omdat de raad de districten niet opnieuw had ingedeeld, zijn hun huidige districten aanzienlijk verkeerd verdeeld.
