Indiana’s Pro-Democracy Coalition Demands Greater Transparency in State’s Redistricting Process

Today, Common Cause Indiana, All IN for Democracy, Indiana State Conference of the NAACP, and Women4Change demanded Indiana state leaders immediately disclose details of the Republican political consultant they hired to oversee the state’s redistricting process at a press conference at the Indiana Statehouse. The leaders highlighted the significant conflict of interest a political hire poses for redistricting, a process that should not unfairly favor one political party.

Democracy Reform Activists Hold “Gerrymander Meander Votercade” for Fair Redistricting

Yesterday, democracy advocates participated in All IN for Democracy's “Gerrymander Meander Votercade” along Meridian Street in support of fair redistricting and elections in Indiana. The event was held just a month before Indiana will receive data from the 2020 Census that will inform the drawing of new congressional, state, and local political jurisdictions, a process known as redistricting that takes place every ten years.

Coalition of Community Organizations Rally in Support of The For The People Act

Yesterday, a diverse coalition of nine community organizations and activists, led by Common Cause Indiana, rallied at the offices of Sens. Todd Young and Mike Braun in a demonstration of support for The For The People Act.

More Than 80 Indiana Citizens Attended Webinar on Voting Rights

Yesterday, Common Cause Indiana, the Indiana State Conference NAACP, and the Indianapolis NAACP welcomed more than 80 Indiana citizens to a virtual panel featuring voting rights experts. The strong attendance from a diverse group of community members highlights the strong grassroots support for an independent and bipartisan redistricting process in Indiana so that voters can freely choose their elected representatives, not the other way around.
